SSD/Linux

SSD/Linux is the native Linux OS for the OpenMicroServer and OpenBlockS. It is developed and maintained in-house at Plat'Home.

The distribution is optimized to offer maximum functionality in the space available on the MicroServer flash ROM. As the MicroServers can be outfitted with extra storage such as a Compact Flash card, we also offer an expanded distribution with all functionality of a full-fledged Linux OS. Many popular Open Source applications like the Apache web server are available as precompiled packages.

For developers, Plat'Home also offers a cross-compile environment for x86 systems free of charge.

Even though SSD/Linux is based on a Linux kernel, most of the userland is derived from BSD. It is published under a BSD-style open license. Even the name Sotokanda Software Distribution is a hat-tip to BSD. Sotokanda is the Tokyo district where Akihabara is located.
